"... I still can't bear to see tears from those eyes..."
Ayane had tracked and caught up with her target, one of the runaway clones from Donovan's 'Phase 4' project. Her objective was to eliminate any trace of the project still at large, her orders had come from Hayate himself and Ayane wasn't about to let him down. As she cornered the copy on a rooftop with her blades drawn, that familiar face turned around to stare innocently at her, the light breeze of the chilly night gently caressing the long red hair that delicately floated along its path. The clone of Ayane's half-sister Kasumi held her hand to her chest, in much the same way the original would, and still holding her gaze to her pursuer's eyes she held out the other hand in a gesture beckoning her closer. Ayane held her blades up in a defensive stance, her eyes carefully examining the being standing before her, trying to figure out what she was trying to do.
With three words, Ayane's resolve wavered. "Please, help me" the clone kept her soft stare locked on Ayane's eyes as she simply kept her hand extended, Ayane lowered her blades just slightly as she attempted to take in the plea of this copy. Before she could reply the clone spoke again, "I don't..." her expression dropped as her lower lip quivered, tears welling up in her eyes as her cracking voice returned to finish "I don't want to die..." Ayane's determination had disappeared and been replaced with confusion and heartache, she knew all to well that this was a clone, an artificial human being created for war and destruction. As she watched the clone turn her head away and close her eyes, beginning to quietly sob while awaiting her potential demise, Ayane mulled over everything in her head. Master Hayabusa had pitied these copies from the start, saying that "Despite their ill fate, they were still human lives". With a slight shake of her head and a heavy sigh, Ayane sheathed her blades and stepped forward. Hayate would be furious if he knew what she was about to do but right now she didn't care, she had to stop those tears from flowing.
